Clients and counselors engage in a variety of activities to help clients deal with concerns and problems. Included are giving advice; describing, outlining and selecting options or choices; helping to determine, explain and verbalize goals and providing needed information.

What kind of problems can counseling help?

Counseling can be helpful for various problems or concerns. Individuals who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, problems at work or school, high levels of anger or tension, addiction, obsessions/compulsions, sexual dysfunction, stressful life events, marital discord, communication problems and/or problems with rebellious adolescents, can find help through counseling.

Who should go to counseling?

People who are experiencing difficulties or troubles that may benefit from professional help may want to consider counseling. Individuals (adults and children), families and groups can benefit from counseling.

How long does counseling last?

The length of the counseling process varies dependent upon the client's presenting problem and the level of commitment to, and amount of work, he or she wants to put forth to reach a solution. However, the process of counseling has been streamlined so clients can achieve their goals in a relatively quick time frame.

When can I schedule an appointment?

At PFCS, appointment times are available during the day and evening. For those people who need evening appointments, PFCS is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. PFCS is open from 9:00 to 5:00 on Wednesday and Friday.

How much does counseling cost and how do people pay for counseling?

The fees for counseling services are determined by individual agencies. At PFCS, fees are on a sliding scale based on income and family size. PFCS accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most forms of insurance.
