PFCS Programs

Older adults have a wealth of life experience and strengths to draw on as they age. However, even well-adjusted individuals experience crises and problems from time to time as part of normal aging. It's for those times that the Older Adult Outreach Program at Personal & Family Counseling Services of Tuscarawas Valley, Inc. exists.

Often, the older adult possesses the strengths to answer their own questions and solve their own problems. They only need help in finding those answers and solutions. PFCS is here to help individuals as they work to solve their own problems.

Common Concerns of Older Adults:

• Reduced Income
• Bereavement
• Diminished Mobility
• Changes in Living Situation
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Health Changes Due to Chronic Illness

Case management services are provided by a social worker trained in working with older adults. Services are focused on finding solutions to increase the individual's personal growth, hopefulness, empowerment and skills for coping. The social worker will identify and build on the strengths of the older adult to assist them in dealing with current concerns.

Caregivers are of great importance to the well being of an older adult. The social worker also assists the caregiver or support system of the older adult as appropriate.

Services will include:

• Assessment
• Linkage to community resources
• Service Coordination
• Development and enhancement of skills to deal with current concerns

The services of the Older Adult Outreach Program are provided at no cost to the older adult.
